	@r.exit
You can't win all the time. Francois I was one hell of a king, and still got beaten at Pavia. (quit)
	@r.load
A thousand hells! Did you really expect me to back off?! (load game)
	@o.global
In order to win, you have to support sicilian insurgents and defeat the spanish fleet (orange). You will lose if you run out of ships, or if the Spaniards capture the academy in Messina (violet city on the southeast).
	@o.messina
Reach Messina and hide your fleet in the bay.
	@q.briefing
You are commanding a fleet sailing from Toulon to supply the insurgents in Messina. As delay equals failure, only a portion of your ships takes part in the expedition, others will join your fleet when they are seaworthy enough. For now, enemy fleet has superiority in numbers. Moreover, your ships are loaded with troops and supplies, making them unfit for a naval engagement, so you need to reach Messina while avoiding a battle. This is not easy, though, for admiral Ruyter is a dangerous adversary, and he is intent on intercepting your squadron.
	@r.briefing
Let's outfox the old man!
	@q.enemy.spotted
One of your captains spotted a forest of masts - it must be Ruyter's fleet. Turn back at once! Perhaps the enemy would take your ship for a merchantman and ignore it.
	@r.enemy.spotted
Hear my command!
	@q.enemy.pursuit
My admiral, the enemy has spotted our fleet! They are raising full sails to catch up with us! I swear on my honor, it's about time we do the same!
	@r.enemy.pursuit
Full sails!
	@q.enemy.patrol
My admiral, we have spotted spanish patrol squadron. Their ships are few, we could drive them away easily, but old Ruyter may hear the cannons if he is nearby. We need to act fast.
	@r.enemy.patrol
You are right, let's hurry up.
	@q.enemy.scouts
My admiral, spanish scout ships ahead! We should sink them promptly, lest Ruyter hears our cannons. He'll wreck our fleet if he is nearby, and our holds are full of soldiers.
	@r.enemy.scouts
No time to lose, then.
	@q.player.arrives
Viva la France! If only you took a few days more, our city would have fallen! The Spaniards are near, they prepare to assault Messina. We need more than gunpowder, arms and provisions now, we need your men. If you can't help us, we're done with!
	@r.player.arrives
Worry not, we've brought soldiers as well!
	@o.defend
Repel the assault on Messina.
	@q.defeat.capture
All is lost! The Spaniards have proven once more that their infantry is invincible. Your expedition ends in disaster. If you risk putting to sea, Ruyter will sink your fleet. If you stay in the bay, enemy infantry will show you the legendary spanish fury. You are trapped with no way out.
	@q.defended
We have repelled the assault! Victory! The Spaniards are fleeing! Let's pursue them! My men want revenge!
	@r.let.flee
Calm down, monsieur, let them run.
	@r.massacre
Of course, we have to finish them off!
	@q.bloodbath
Your soldiers and the insurgents have butchered the fleeing Spaniards. Only a few have escaped with their lives.
	@r.bloodbath
That will show them!
	@q.reinforcements
Reinforcements from Toulon are approaching! I was also informed that spanish fleet abandoned the blockade of Messina, leaving for a city on the west. With the addition of new ships our fleet is strong enough to give a battle to Ruyter.
	@r.reinforcements
Raise the anchors!
	@o.blockade
Drive the spanish fleet away from the port on the west.
	@q.enemy.retreats
It's getting dark. The battle is over for now. We've been bruised, but the enemy suffered more, I think. If they head west, we need to pursue them and blockade them at their own base. We'll need more reinforcements, though. Send someone to Messina for supplies and information.
	@r.enemy.retreats
Right. Watch the enemy signal fires.
	@o.return
Return to Messina.
	@o.destroy
Destroy the spanish fleet in the bay of Palermo.
	@q.reinforcement2
My admiral, more reinforcements from Toulon! They intercepted an enemy frigate carrying the body of admiral Ruyter. Your valiant adversary has fallen during the recent battle. What should we do with the ship?
	@r.capture
Seize it. The frigate is ours now, attach it to our fleet.
	@r.let.go
Release them. Let them do their solemn duty.
	@r.honor
Ruyter is dead? A tragic loss, for a great warrior is no more. Hats off, lower the flags, and salute our honorable enemy! And let the frigate go.
	@q.was.captured
Gentlemen, we have our reinforcements, and the sailors' morale is sky-high after the victory. Meanwhile the Spanish are cowering in Palermo bay, crestfallen after death of Ruyter. It's a perfect time to attack, I swear! Let's sink their fleet in full sight of Palermo. We must get it done with. No time to tarry!
	@r.was.captured
Raise the anchors!
	@q.had.pass
My friend, the entire Paris is talking of the King's noble gesture. You have intercepted a ship carrying Ruyter's dead body back home, and let them go. Yet the King ordered to give that vessel free passage, and salute it in every french port it visits. Anyway, there is a more worrying reason for me to write. Duke de Vivonne, your superior, has decided it's a perfect time to take a personal command of the fleet and finish the weakened enemy. After you did all the job, he is about to claim all the glory. You should do as sailors always do - put to sea at once, miss the King's orders and avoid meeting the commander-in-chief. Quick, find the enemy and sink his ships. The glory will be yours, and the envious courtiers will have to shut their mouths.
	@r.had.pass
I need to hurry!
	@q.was.honored
My friend, the entire Paris is talking of your noble gesture. You have intercepted a ship carrying Ruyter's dead body back home, and let them go with military honors, saluting the great adversary. Paris was impressed. The King responded to your chivalry with the orders to give that vessel free passage, and salute it in every french port it visits. Without Ruyter, you'll have easier time handling the Spaniards. But tarry not! Duke de Vivonne, your ambitious superior, feels threatened by your chivalry and heroic feats. He has decided to take personal command of the fleet and finish the weakened enemy.
	@r.was.honored
I need to hurry!
	@q.plateau
Looking at the maps, you have noticed some hills to the north of Palermo bay. If you could deploy cannons there, they will give a world of trouble to the enemy fleet.
	@r.plateau
Let's make a landing.
	@q.fort.surrenders
Signor, stop your hand! Let us stop this pointless bloodshed. We did everything we were honor-bound to do, but to continue now would mean murder, and murder is sin. No one in the world would reproach us for cowardice. We appeal to your mercy and chivalry, signor.
	@r.fort.surrenders
These are words of a wise and noble man indeed
	@q.fort.captured
You have captured the spanish fort. To avoid the damage your cannons could deal to their fleet, the Spanish moved southward. The time of battle is coming. Soon they will try to recapture the fort, and you are in no position to hold it. Attack their fleet now, while their ships aren't ready.
	@r.fort.captured
Alea iacta est
	@q.victory
This long and torrid day is about to end. The battle is over. You have ordered to launch the boats and save the drowning sailors. Thankfully, they can swim for a long time in these warm waters, holding on the debris. The Dutch-Spanish fleet is no more! You have completed your objective.
	@r.victory
Long live France!
	@q.defeat
Your flagship was set aflame. Displaying wonders of bravery and persistence, you have remained in charge of the ship and continued to command the battle. Alas, your men have failed to douse the flame. It reached the powder room, and your ship explodes in a giant ball of fire!
