You have to ferry King James II (a general) to England. The straits separating you from your objective are guarded by the enemy. You'll acquire most of your resources via merchant ships. Escort them to your port while driving enemy privateers away. The enemy is likewise dependent on sea trade; it would do well to you to engage them in cruiser warfare. More importantly, the french Mediterranean convoy transporting a large load of cargo is about to arrive soon, and you have to ensure its safe arrival at the port. Meanwhile, the enemy is about to send out its Smyrna convoy, full of gold to purchase oriental goods. It goes without saying what you are supposed to do with it. French privateers based in a haven to the east are going to assist your mission. Do not put them in danger, for the King favors them; he won't be happy if some misfortune befalls them.
	@r.briefing
Got it.
	@q.briefing2
Jacobites - the supporters of James II - expect his arrival at the fishing villages on the coast. As soon as you land him there, they will start an uprising and take England out of the war. Naturally, the English will try to suppress the insurgence, so be prepared to provide some armed support to the rebels. Remember, if you take James away from his followers before the uprising succeeds, it will likely end in failure.
	@r.briefing2
Got it.
	@o.global
Develop your holdings, stock up on resources and build your ships. To gain more resources, escort your merchant ships (white) and raid the enemy ones (violet). In order to win, land James II (a general) in Ireland (green city) or England (blue city) and hold the beachhead. You will lose if you run out of troops, if James dies, or if the English capture or destroy the town center of french privateers (white).
	@o.ireland
Land James II in Ireland (green city)
	@o.england
Land James II in England (blue city)
	@q.supplies.arrived
A merchantman loaded with resources has arrived at the port.
	@r.supplies.arrived
Very well.
	@q.supplies.captured
Your privateer has captured an enemy merchantman loaded with cargo.
	@r.supplies.captured
Good job!
	@q.king.ireland
James II, the legitimate King, has landed in Ireland to the joy of his loyal supporters. The enemies of the king are hurrying north to join the troops loyal to Wilhelm the usurper. His army will arrive soon enough, and you must help jacobites repel the English. If you fail, make sure to evacuate James back to France.
	@r.king.ireland
They should stock up on coffins!
	@o.ireland.fight
Help irish jacobites (green city) to repel the punitive expedition
	@q.ireland.defeat
The jacobite uprising in Ireland has been suppressed. Evacuate King James from the island, quickly! It is hopeless to continue with our Ireland designs. Time for another plan.
	@r.ireland.defeat
Curses!
	@q.eng.expedition.ire
Jacobites have repelled the english troops stationed in Ireland. Our spies report that Wilhelm has raised another army in England, they are boarding his ships as we speak. The best course of action now is to sink them at sea. If we fail, well, they need to be defeated when they land.
	@r.eng.expedition.ire
Now that's a challenge!
	@q.ireland.victory
Jacobites have defeated the english army! Now the entire Ireland has risen, and there are jacobite uprisings in Scotland too. King Louis is very pleased. Now that Wilhelm has to focus on keeping his country whole, England is taken out of the war, all thanks to your bravery and resolution.
	@r.ireland.victory
Long live the King!
	@q.ireland.retreat
Once the disappearance of James has been discovered, jacobites were crestfallen. Some of them fled the country, others switched sides hoping to be forgiven. The english spies used an opportunity to cause even more disarray. The jacobite uprising in Ireland has been suppressed.
	@r.ireland.retreat
Too bad.
	@q.king.england
James II, the legitimate King, has landed in England. His supporters started an uprising in a nearby city and prepare to march on London. Local authorities still loyal to Wilhelm are trying to suppress the insurgence on their own. Help the jacobites repel the attack, and if you fail, make sure to evacuate James back to France.
	@r.king.england
Let's see what the English are made of!
	@o.england.fight
Help english jacobites (blue city) to repel the punitive expedition
	@q.england.retreat
Jacobites have discovered that James has abandoned them and escaped England. The news spread among their camp, dealing a blow to their morale. None of them retains any hope of success, everybody is only concerned for his life. The insurrection is over before it even began. Wilhelm has his power in England secured.
	@r.england.retreat
Too bad.
	@q.england.defeat
The jacobite uprising in England has been suppressed, and James begs you to take him back to France promptly. Apparently his tales about hundreds of thousands of his supporters have been slightly exaggerated. There is no way to cause another uprising in England now.
	@r.england.defeat
I always questioned that idea.
	@q.england.more.troops
Jacobites have defeated the troops sent to crush their uprising in its infancy, but this is not over yet. Another mighty army is marching from London, tasked with punishing the traitors. The jacobites can never handle it without help from french troops. Do everything in your power to help the insurgents repel Wilhelm's attack.
	@r.england.more.troops
It smells of battle!
	@q.england.victory
	The english army has been defeated on its home turf! The jacobites are triumphant, gathering to march on London at once. Jacobites in Scotland are rising and marching south as well. King Louis is very pleased, for Wilhelm has to focus on keeping his crown now, and even might end up as an exile. England is taken out of the war, all thanks to your bravery and resolution.
	@r.england.victory
Long live the King!
	@q.defeat.fail
Alas, the jacobite uprisings ended up in failure. Apparently, Wilhelm's grasp on power was far stronger than James II has believed. Louis is greatly disappointed. He believes at least one of the uprisings would have succeeded were you to act with more resolution. Couldn't you make some conclusions after the first failure? The King how wishes for you to step down from your post.
	@q.help.pirates
Take care! Our spies report that the English have decided to punish the french privateers. An expedition has been dispatched to raze their base. The privateers cannot handle it on their own, you must help them. Remember, the King favors these rascals.
	@r.help.pirates
Hear my orders!
	@o.pirates
Protect the privateers' base (white) from the english expedition (violet)
	@q.pirates.defeat
The King is outraged. The English have turned the privateer base into a mound of shattered rock, and their ships were all burnt and sunk. War is an expensive enterprise, and the corsairs' brave raids ensured a constant flow of gold into the french treasury. The King accepts no excuses and wishes to replace you with someone more capable. You are to retire from your post.
	@q.pirates.defended
Thanks for your help, monsieur. We've barely fought these bastards off. Now that their ships are on the bottom of the sea, their merchants are defenseless. It's a good opportunity to raid them again. Raise the sails!
	@r.pirates.defended
Good luck, monsieur!
	@q.big.caravan.ours.starts
The Mediterranean convoy is finally here. It is loaded with oriental goods, ensure its safety! It is unacceptable to allow the English to capture this cargo!
	@r.big.caravan.ours.starts
Hear my orders!
	@o.caravan.ours
Escort the Mediterranean convoy (a white fleet coming from the west)
	@q.big.caravan.ours.fail
Most of the vessels in Mediterranean convoy have fallen prey to the English. The damage done to french finances is immense, the King is enraged! You'll have to pull on all your strings at the court to stay out of Bastille. Better yet, strike back at the English!
	@r.big.caravan.ours.fail
Damn it!
	@q.big.caravan.ours.success
Most of the vessels in Mediterranean convoy have arrived safely at the port. French merchants offer you rich gifts to express their gratitude. With this task fulfilled, you are to destroy the english Smyrna convoy. Do not let it escape!
	@r.big.caravan.ours.success
I will not.
	@q.enemy.caravan.start
The Smyrna convoy left the shores of England. It heads to Smyrna, obviously, carrying a load of gold to purchase all kinds of exotic wares, such as chinese silks. If you manage to capture or sink the majority of its vessels, the damage to english finances will be immense. You cannot let the opportunity pass!
	@r.enemy.caravan.start
Raise the sails!
	@o.caravan.enemy
Intercept the Smyrna convoy (a blue fleet coming from the east)
	@q.enemy.caravan.success
You have devastated the Smyrna convoy! English merchants have suffered tremendous losses, the insurance rate is now sky-high! The King is pleased with your booty, for he needs a lot of gold to keep waging the war. You and your officers were showered with money, rewards and titles.
	@r.enemy.caravan.success
Long live the King!
	@q.enemy.caravan.fail
You've let the Smyrna convoy slip away! The King is displeased with your sluggishness, and your career might soon be over, unless you come back with some spectacular triumph. Maybe the convoy will be less slippery on its way back...
	@r.enemy.caravan.fail
Curses!
	@q.eng.fleet.defeated
You have defeated the royal fleet of England! Its ships are resting on the bottom of the ocean. More importantly, you have razed the enemy's naval bases, destroying immense stockpiles of timber, hemp and other shipbuilding supplies, burning down the ships under construction and repairs. The feats of great de Ruyter were surpassed by you! Now England lies open to an invasion. Its population prepares to defend its homes, like in the days of the Spanish Armada.
	@r.eng.fleet.defeated
Long live France!
	@q.defeat
His Majesty's beautiful ships and brave sailors now rest on the bottom of La Manche. Bereft of its defenders, Brest, the main base of the fleet, has fallen. The overseas properties of France and her coasts alike are under threat. The English are undisputed masters of the sea now. Your defeat was utter and complete!
	@q.defeat.king
King James is dead, and so is our hope to win in England. This failure will probably cost you your head.
	@r.exit
You can't win all the time. Francois I was one hell of a king, and still got beaten at Pavia. (quit)
	@r.load
A thousand hells! Did you really expect me to back off?! (load game)
