Declarations

This screen enables the player to enter/withdraw his horses in future races (up to a month in advance), book/un-book jockeys, and view important race declaration data such as current race fields and weights. You should use the CONTEXT button near the top of the screen to first select either flat or jumps.

IMPORTANT: If you do not enter your horse in it's chosen race before the declaration cut-off point you will incur a cash penalty on confirming the declaration. Leaving your declarations late can prove very costly, especially in the case of group races! Scroll down the FUTURE MEETINGS table and note the date of the declarations cut off.

To begin making a declaration note your basic readiness indicator in the OWNED HORSES table that indicates your horses readiness to race (fitness and condition). Red indicates the horse is not ready, amber indicates the horse is almost ready and green indicates the horse is ready to race.

To select one of your horses either click the horses name (this accesses the HORSE DATA screen and also selects the horse), the horses form (this accesses the horses form and also selects the horse) or click the small 'S'elect icon to the right of the owned horses table. Note that when a horse is selected the main FUTURE MEETINGS table is updated to list ONLY the races that the selected horse is eligible to enter. The player can further filter these races by setting the other three list-boxes in the RACE FILTERS table. For example, you may want to list only races over 7 furlongs. Note that you may want to check on your horses parameters. To view the horses data screen click the horses name in the OWNED HORSES table (top-left screen). A number of icons may appear in the FUTURE MEETINGS table. A small 'P' icon next to a race indicates that you already have a horse declared to run in this race. A small 'F' icon next to a race indicates this is a Feature race. For meetings without a short term weather forecast description there may be a long term forecast icon. This depicts either rain, cloud or sun and is a basic indicator of the expected weather.

Next, select a race you are interested in. The races currently declared field and details will be displayed in the CURRENT DECLARATIONS table at the bottom-right of the screen. Note that the contents of this table may change as the race approaches due to other trainer's entering/withdrawing runners. It is important to keep an eye on your horses allocated WEIGHT to make sure it is suitable. Weight also needs to be considered when booking a jockey as if a jockey weighs more than the horses allocated weight then the horse will be disadvantaged during the race.

If the selected race is suitable then click the ENTER HORSE button. If your horse is successfully entered for the selected race it will now appear (highlighted in pink) as part of the field. You may remove the horse at any point by clicking on the REMOVE HORSE button but note that you will have lost the entrance fee. If a race is full (30 runners) you may still enter a race as long as your horse has a higher rating that the lowest rated horse in the race. The lowest rated horse will be replaced by your entry.

After successfully entering your horse for a race you may book a jockey. If you do not book a jockey a member of your staff will automatically book one the day before the race but beware that you may not get the most suitable jockey! You can un-book the jockey at any time by clicking the UNBOOK JOCKEY button (but will again lose the jockeys booking fee).
